Now, I'm just brainstorming here, but on a PS3 game which I own, players have the ability to HOST a server on their own system. I was thinking: what if this came to roblox? If you had a decent enough upload speed, you should be able to run a server on your own computer, and then maybe other users could choose servers that are closer to them, reducing connection lag? (maybe display a ping connection value beside each server?)
Benefits:
Less lag for local users
Less servers being used at Roblox's server farm
Now, I have absolutely no idea if this is even possible, but I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea, considering a lot of people complain of server connection errors nowdays...?

Grand Chase already has this. It would make the game have to be able to host it, thus making the size bigger, but full support with this idea.

They'd need to tdo major security upgrades to stop people hacking the games.
(There was a glitch were you could get someones password in game, Very nasty.)

Well, as long as that isn't possible, I think we'll be fine

Re: What if we could HOST...
As far as I know, portforwarding is only needed on computers... being on PS3's it is pretty automatic...

The server will get the packets containing that information regardless of security - it's necessary. They COULD be encrypted, but that would slow it down, AND if the encryption is broken, thousands of accounts are in jeopardy...Earth wrote:They'd need to tdo major security upgrades to stop people hacking the games.
